First Technology Division Webinar, "Mashups for Planning", February 17th

The Technology Division is launching a series of webinars to train planners in the use of technology in their work. Starting in the Fall of 2008, the Technology Division will offer webinars in three tracks:

  • Technology for Planners 101
  • GIS for Planners 101
  • Tech Future

The Technology for Planners 101 sessions will cover general use of technology in planning, including web applications, public input technologies (such as wikis, keypad polling and online mapping), outreach technology, project management and data analysis tools.

GIS for Planners 101 will cover a range of topics such as GIS technology capabilities, the basics of using GIS, setting up GIS for your department, and more.

The Tech Future sessions will introduce participants to emerging technologies that can be applied to planning. These will include touch-sensitive technologies, mobile technologies (smart phones, text messaging, etc.), and other cutting-edge tools and applications.

The first Technology Division webinar will be held on February 19th from 12-1:30 Eastern. The webinar, Using Mashups for Planning, will be lead by Jennifer Evans-Cowley from The Ohio State University, and Harsh Prakash, IT/GIS Consultant.
